...and the Little One Said, "Roll Over"
It takes a lot of sleeping to grow...Daniel excels at sleeping. We will find out tomorrow just how much he has grown officially.
All this sleep also stores energy for what we are pretty confident in confirming is Daniel's new skilll, which he demonstrated today: rolling from front to back. Yes, at 5 weeks. Video evidence to be uploaded once daddy gets to it. He did it once last night (we called it a fluke) but then three times in quick succession today.
Kacy and Daniel also sent happy anniversary wishes to Boots and GranDan, who celebrate the big #41 today.

One Month Old, and a Visit from the Vander Sluises
Daniel made it to the 1 month mark this week. He continues to eat and sleep like a champ, and even has some good jags of "awake" time (mostly during the day, though once a week or so he likes to party in the 2-4 AM range, like last night for example).
A crying shot for the fans of those out there (yes, talking to you Liz Romaniello).
Aunt Lacey and Uncle Nate made another trip north to visit for the weekend. (Apparently Aunt Lacey likes to make it a point to be with us for 1 month celebrations; see www.babyhorne2006.blogspot.com/2006/12/1-month-old.html)
The visit also doubled as a primer for their baby boy, due around January 10, 2011. (We of course are pushing for 1/11/11).
A cake Monday night to celebrate Daniel's official 4 week mark, and mom and dad's 7th anniversary.
Kacy trying on Nate's belated Christmas present. It is probably the only time she will be allowed to be wearing (or photgraphed) wearing a Browns item of clothing. But since it was for Uncle Nate, it got a pass from dad.

Summer Vacation 2010
We took a few days' vacation and went down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Fishing was high on the agenda. Kacy was excited to catch some croaker and spot fishing near the bridge that links the Outer Banks to Roanoke Island.
We hit up the Wright Memorial in Kill Devil Hills.
Daniel enjoyed hitting the beach...
...and watching Kacy and Daddy fly her new kite from Kitty Hawk Kites.
Kacy thought she would really like a jacuzzi bath. Once the bubble jets started, she wasn't so sure.
Daddy, Kacy and Daniel on the Nags Head Pier.
Enjoying vacation...
Our friends the Mansolillos happened to be on their family vacation in the OBX also, so we spent an afternoon with them at their beach house. Kacy and Jack had a blast together.
Daniel had his own brand of fun, newborn style.
Ready for dinner, posing with Jack and his cousin Molly.
Corolla sunset.
We had a great week. Daniel did great on his first road trip, and everyone had a good time. Back to reality though...Daniel's celebrates 4 weeks on Monday!

Beach Bound
We are headed to the Outer Banks this weekend (Daniel's first road trip; say a prayer his bottle breaks and Kacy's potty breaks coincide) but here are some pictures from yesterday. See you all when we get back from the beach!

Starting Week 3
Monday was the 2 week mark for Daniel. At the doctor, he weighed 9 lb., 11 oz. (up from 8 lb., 14 oz. at birth and weighing 8 lb., 9 oz. at his July30th doctor visit). He also has grown 1.5 inches (now measuring 21.5 inches long).
Playing some catch up, as GranDan sent his pics from their visit. Aunt Mary with Daniel and Kacy, and Kacy showing off her new Dora backpack for school (school starts August 30th!) She also has taken a liking to the teddy bear that our friends Liz and Kenny in Connecticut sent for Daniel.
As evidenced by his weight gain (and the above photos), Daniel is eating plenty and sleeps a lot.

Daniel's Second Week
The settling in continued this week. Kacy spent most of the week on the boat with grandma and her cousins, but had fun at home with her brother and GranDan and Boots, too.
Boots and GranDan with Daniel before heading back to Arizona on Wednesday.
Thursday's activity was Daniel's first bath. He didn't seem to mind so much.
Thursday afternoon, we met up with Kacy and Katrina at the annual Princess Tea Party at the club.
Kacy is taking to being a big sister very well. The commodore of the yacht club offered her a bicycle for her brother, and while she entertained the idea, she told him no. Yesterday, he upped the ante to include three puppies in addition to the bicycle. She still wouldn't bite. We think this is a good sign.
