Weekend in Rock Hall

Gearing up for the weekend sure does tucker a baby out.
We hitched a ride across the Chesapeake Bay with Grandma and Grandpa on the boat, and headed over to Rock Hall on Friday. We took a walk when we arrived and came upon a ton of butterflies.
Friday night, Daniel took his first trolley ride for dinner in town.
Saturday at lunch, after walking around the Rock Hall Fall Festival, Daniel stood in for daddy's burger, until it arrived of course.
Unfortunately I have other cute pics from the weekend, but though they rotated and are saved the right way on my laptop, for some reason Blogger wants to reflip them back to their original state when I upload to the site. Not being too tech-savvy, and having had no luck using some of the tips I found on google to supposedly solve the dilemma, I have opted to post the cute ones on Facebook in my pictures. For those non-Facebookers, just email mom at libbyhorne@gmail.com for a selection.

8 Weeks and Counting...

Daniel hits the 8 week mark tomorrow...so quick!
Kacy and Daniel getting ready for another boat ride yesterday, for Baltimore Yacht Club's annual Fleet Review to honor outgoing Commodore Dick Bruns. Yet another gorgeous day to be out on the water!

Beautiful Boat Ride

We tagged along for a boat ride with Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday afternoon. We took the boat for a "quick" ride to the Inner Harbor; the weather was fabulous and it was a great day for a boat ride.  Daddy took a turn at the helm, and Kacy helped him navigate. Daniel enjoyed the view between naps.
The Francis Scott Key bridge from the water.

Saturday night, our friend Erin came up to visit, and we celebrated her birthday (a few days late). Kacy of course had to help her blow out her candles.

Kacy Begins Pre-K

Kacy headed off to school today for her first full day of pre-K. She was all set, with her Dora backpack and Tinkerbell lunchbox.
Daniel is now 6 weeks old, and is growing into his chick magnet status.

Maryland State Fair Day

We spent Labor Day Monday at the Maryland State Fair. Kacy loved checking out all the animals, including cows, horses, pigs and chickens.
Kacy's first foray into fair games was successful. She won the monkey she really wanted.
Daddy and Kacy took a spin on the ferris wheel.
Then a spin on the merry-go-round was in order.
Daniel was a good caretaker of Kacy's monkey while she rode the rides.
At lunchtime, fair food was of course on tap. Kacy's choice was a footlong corndog.
On the way out, we visited Legoland.
It was a good holiday weekend, full of fair fun and food!

To back up a bit, on Tuesday the 31st Daniel had his 4 week visit to the doctor and weighed in at 12 pounds. This weekend he has spoiled us with some long stretches of sleep (6 hours overnight on Friday and Saturday, almost 8 last night!) and we are hoping this trend continues.
Kacy has her first official day of school tomorrow. We are sure she will do great and learn a lot.

Labor Day 2010, Part 1

Playing some dress up on Friday. Clearly Kacy loves her new butterfly wings.
Today we hit the Renaissance Fair. The weather was just about perfect for a fun day.
Kacy loved taking Sunny for a ride. The pony ride is always a fair favorite.

It wouldn't bea fair without fair food. Mac and cheese on a stick...
A stick of honey...
And of course, a turkey leg (shared with dad).
Despite the meltdown depicted, Daniel actually enjoyed his first time at the Renaissance Fair.
Kacy had fun hanging out with her friend Cate Levine.
The fair fun continues this holiday weekend: the itinerary has us heading to the Maryland State Fair for the first time. We shall see what adventures await us there.

Kacy's Getting Her Wings

This week was orientation week at Kacy's school. She is starting the pre-K 3 year old program at our local elementary school. She received these beautiful butterfly wings from our friends Erin and Sid Velandy the night before her first day of orientation...which seemed appropriate for her big day.
She did great on her first day of orientation on Thursday. She picked out her locker, met her teacher, and got a feel for the school.
Kacy was so excited to tell Daniel all about her new school.
Thursday night we had a multi-generational dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house, as Great-Grandpa Joe was in town for a visit from Vermont.
